Darrell K Royal - Texas Memorial Stadium

Austin does not operate a comprehensive subway or metro system. The Capital MetroRail Red Line is the city's light rail service, but direct access to the stadium via rail is not practical. The closest station, MLK Jr. Station, is approximately a 1.5-mile walk east via East 19th Street and San Jacinto Boulevard, a journey of around 30 minutes. Most patrons opt for connecting bus services or rideshare from other parts of the city.

Capital Metro bus services provide the most direct public transit access. Several routes serve the University of Texas at Austin campus, where the stadium is located. Key routes include the 7 (Duval/Dove Springs), 10 (Red River/South First), 20 (Manor Rd/Riverside), and 300 (MetroRapid Burnet/South Lamar). Nearby stops include those on San Jacinto Boulevard at 23rd Street and Robert Dedman Drive at 23rd Street, typically a 2-5 minute walk to stadium gates.

On-campus parking is available in various university garages within a 10-minute walk, including the Manor Garage (MAG) on Robert Dedman Dr, San Jacinto Garage (SJG) on San Jacinto Blvd, and Trinity Garage (TRG) on Trinity St. Fees are significant, especially on event days, and demand far outstrips supply. Congestion around the stadium is severe before and after events. Advance booking through UT Parking and Transportation or third-party apps is highly recommended to secure a space and potentially mitigate entry delays.

Multiple entry gates are situated around the stadium perimeter (e.g., Gate 1 on the west side, Gate 4 on the southeast, Gate 25 on the northeast). Entrances are clearly marked, and all patrons are subject to security screening, including a clear bag policy. To avoid extended queues and ensure entry before event commencement, it is advisable to arrive at least 60-90 minutes prior to the scheduled start time for general admission, and potentially earlier for high-profile events.
