Pleasance Theatre

Edinburgh Waverley Station is the nearest mainline rail hub. From the station, the Pleasance Theatre is approximately a 15 to 18-minute walk south-east. Exit onto Market Street, turn right onto North Bridge, and continue south over South Bridge, which becomes Nicolson Street. Turn left onto West Richmond Street, then right onto The Pleasance.

Numerous Lothian Bus services operate along South Bridge and Nicolson Street, immediately adjacent to the theatre complex. Key routes include the 3, 5, 7, 8, 14, 29, 30, 31, 33, 37, 47, and 49, all providing frequent connections across the city. The nearest bus stops are located directly on South Bridge/Nicolson Street, approximately a 3-minute walk from the venue.

For those arriving by car, the NCP St John's Hill multi-storey car park (EH8 9TY) is a 5-minute walk from the theatre, offering paid parking. Alternatively, the Holyrood Road Parking (EH8 8AU) is an 8-minute walk. On-street metered parking is extremely limited in the immediate vicinity and subject to high demand and restricted hours. Advance booking for multi-storey car parks is advisable, particularly during busy periods.

The main entrance to the Pleasance complex is situated on The Pleasance road. Specific entry points for individual theatres within the complex are well-signposted once inside the courtyard. Queue arrangements typically form on the pavement outside during peak times or within the courtyard. Bag searches are routinely conducted upon entry, and visitors should anticipate a brief delay for security procedures. Arriving at least 20-30 minutes before the advertised start time is recommended to allow for ticket scanning, security, and finding your seat or standing position.
