Sanford Stadium

Athens, GA, does not have direct mainline passenger rail service. The nearest Amtrak station is Toccoa, GA, located approximately 55 miles northeast, requiring subsequent private vehicle or bus transfer to Athens.

Sanford Stadium is well-served by the Athens-Clarke County Transit System (ACC Transit). Key routes, including the 9 (East Campus Village), 14 (Downtown/East Campus), 20 (Westside/University), and 21 (Oconee Connector), have stops within a 5-10 minute walk. Relevant stops are typically found along Lumpkin Street at Field Street or on East Campus Road.

On event days, parking around the stadium becomes extremely congested, and advance booking is highly recommended. Several University of Georgia parking decks are available, including the Tate Center Parking Deck, South Campus Parking Deck, and Hull Street Parking Deck, all generally within a 10-15 minute walk. Fees are substantial for event parking, and securing a spot without prior reservation can be challenging.

Entry points are located at various gates around the stadium perimeter. Guests should anticipate standard security procedures, including bag searches and metal detection, with a clear bag policy typically enforced for major events. Gates usually open 2-3 hours prior to the scheduled start time; arriving at least 90 minutes early is advisable to navigate security and locate seating before the event commences.
