How do I get to Volksfestplatz, Bayreuth?

Volksfestplatz is at Äußere Badstraße, Bayreuth, 95448. Open in Google Maps

By train and tube

The nearest mainline station is Bayreuth Hauptbahnhof. From the Hauptbahnhof, the Volksfestplatz is approximately a 25-minute walk. Exit the station and proceed south down Bahnhofstraße, turn left onto Wittelsbacherring, continue onto Berliner Platz, then turn right onto Dr.-Konrad-Pöhlmann-Straße, followed by a left onto Äußere Badstraße. The venue entrance will be accessible from Am Sportpark, which branches off Äußere Badstraße.

By bus

Several local bus lines serve the area surrounding Volksfestplatz. Key stops include "Volksfestplatz" itself, as well as "Äußere Badstraße" and "Sportpark". Lines such as 301 and 305 of the Stadtwerke Bayreuth bus network provide connections from the city centre and other districts. Consult the current Stadtwerke Bayreuth timetable for specific route details and frequencies.

By car and parking

During major events, dedicated temporary parking areas are often established directly on or immediately adjacent to the Volksfestplatz, accessible via Am Sportpark. These spaces may incur fees, and congestion is common. It is advisable to check event-specific information for precise parking availability, pricing, and any advance booking recommendations. Public parking garages in the city centre are generally too distant for convenient walking.

Entry and security

Entrance locations are highly dependent on the specific event layout but are commonly situated along Am Sportpark and Äußere Badstraße. Queue arrangements typically involve temporary barriers and signage. Standard security procedures, including bag searches, are routinely implemented for large public gatherings in Germany. For optimal entry and to avoid peak congestion, arriving 30 to 45 minutes prior to the advertised event start or gate opening time is recommended.
